United Airlines To Have A New CEO In Form Of Scott Kirby

The CEO of United Airlines, Oscar Munoz is going to transition himself into the role of Board of Director’s Executive Chairman of the Holdings of United Airlines from the date of 20th of May 2020 where he is going to be in service for a term of one year. On that date, Scott Kirby is going to take the position of CEO of the company.

Kirby was recruited to the company in August of 2016 after he had held a similar role in American. This has also made it clear that in this company he had a direct path to being CEO which he did not have at American.

Munoz had taken over as United’s CEO in the year 2015 as the company’s former CEO Jeff Smisek had been fired over a scandal which involved the chairman of New York and New Jersey’s Port authorities.

Munoz, in this announcement, has said that with United being in a position that was stronger than it had ever been, this was the perfect time for the process of a new leader taking over to begin. He further added that it was among his goals as the CEO to put a process of transition in place for successful leadership for the company. He says that he brought Kirby to the company three years ago and said that he is very confident that no one in the world is equipped to lead the company to the heights at which Scott Kirby can. He further went on to say that he found the opportunity of leading the company as an honor and he said that going forward, he would still be involved in the company and keep doing his best for the company in his capacity.
